Philanthropic Feat: $9 million Contributed to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA)

Planet Fitness, a giant in the fitness industry, announced today that it has contributed over $9 million to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) since 2016, with an impressive $1 million raised in the current year alone.

This substantial fundraising effort stems from the collective generosity of team members, franchisees, and members, showcasing Planet Fitness’ commitment to making a positive impact beyond the gym floor.

The heart of this charitable endeavor is Planet Fitness’ philanthropic initiative, the Judgement Free Generation®. This initiative is a testament to the company’s mission of empowering the next generation to foster kindness, acceptance, and inclusivity, creating a judgment-free planet.

Throughout the year, Planet Fitness diligently raised funds for BGCA through various channels. The fall fundraiser in October, aligned with National Bullying Prevention Month, saw members invited to make donations at Planet Fitness clubs across the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as online at PFGives.com.

Adding a creative touch to the initiative, members and non-members alike were given the opportunity to contribute by purchasing limited-edition ‘Be Kind’ t-shirts on shop.planetfitness.com.

The proceeds from the sale of these shirts, designed by Judgement Free Generation® Scholarship Winner Hannah Paras, were also channeled into the fundraiser.

All funds raised during 2023 are dedicated to supporting youth-focused programming and academic scholarships at Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The overarching goal is to contribute to the creation of a kinder, more accepting world for the next generation.

McCall Gosselin, Senior Vice President of Communications & Social Impact at Planet Fitness, expressed gratitude for the collective effort, saying, “Every year, our Planet Fitness team is eager to continue supporting our longstanding partnership with BGCA, which provides ample resources to America’s youth within our Planet Fitness clubs and beyond.”

She emphasized that the Judgement Free Generation® initiative empowers young people to prioritize their mental and physical health while promoting kindness and inclusion in their everyday lives, mirroring the ethos of the Judgement Free Zone® within Planet Fitness.

Chad Hartman, National Vice President of Corporate Partnerships and Engagement at BGCA, highlighted the significance of Planet Fitness’ continuous support, stating, “Planet Fitness’ continued support and longstanding partnership are crucial to our larger mission.”

He emphasized the alignment of values, stating that the substantial donation enables BGCA to address social, emotional, and mental health matters within communities across the nation.

This remarkable effort by Planet Fitness underscores the company’s commitment to making a positive impact beyond the gym walls, fostering a generation that prioritizes both physical and mental well-being while embracing kindness and inclusion.
