In the last few seasons, the goalkeeper spot has become less of a concern for FPL managers. Two seasons ago, it was Becker or Ederson in almost every FPL manager’s team. And last year it was Mendy who joined the party.

But we believe that there is still space for saving budget in the heart of the defensive line.

To stand out, it is hence necessary to spend the available budget in the most cost-effective manner and this is where the FPL Budget Goalkeepers come in handy.

In the presence of big teams and big names, there are players like Emiliano Martinez (available in £5.5m), who can help you score better while saving that £0.5m.

Below is the list of 5 goalkeepers that you can consider for your fpl team.

1. José Malheiro de Sá (Wolves)

  • Season starting Price: £5.0m

2021-22 Premier League season is the debut season for Raya in the Premier League for Wolves. Till now, he is the top points scoring goalkeeper tied at 88 points with Manchester City’s Ederson.

In opening 21 fixtures, Sá has kept 8 clean sheets, and is currently best among goalkeepers of his value in terms of points per million.

José Malheiro de Sá can prove to be the most bargain goalkeeper of the season if his performances remained the same till the season end. His next 5 fixtures, SOU (H), BRE (A), ARS (H), TOT (A), and TOT (A) are relatively easier fixtures with a fixture difficulty index at 3 or lower.

So if you are considering him for your team, now is the best time to transfer him in. He won’t stay at £5.2m for too long.

2. Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal)

  • Season starting Price: £4.5m

Next on the list of FPL Budget Goalkeepers is Aaron Ramsdale.

Aaron Ramsdale kept 5 clean sheets and scored 123 points last season. But ever since he has moved to Arsenal, his numbers have gone up, and he is already on 9 cleansheets after the opening 21 fixtures in the Premier League.

Although his player value went up to £5.1m in fpl since the beginning of the season, he still is a goalkeeper worth having as a budget player.

And with all these numbers and value up, he is on our list of fpl budget goalkeepers

3. Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)

  • Season starting Price: £5.5m

Last season, Emiliano was available for £4m but after finishing the season as the top-scoring goalkeeper in the fantasy premier league, he was valued at  £5.5m at the beginning of the ongoing season.

He scored 186 points while keeping 15 clean sheets last season.

Somehow those numbers are no where to be seen in the ongoing season. Till now he only has 5 cleansheets in 21 games but his value is still intact on £5.5m.

This dismal performance has more to do with Aston Villa’s overall team performance, and if they pick themselves up from here on, then surely Emiliano’s numbers will go up.

He is on our list of budget goalkeepers.

4. Illan Meslier (Leeds United)

  • Season starting Price: £5m

Returning from the Championship, Leeds had an incredible season last year. They finished 9th and surprised the big guns with their incredible no fear gameplay.

And the credit goes to players and team management.

This season, it was expected that Leeds United will improve on what they did last year. They were in good shape for it but somehow the performances couldn’t get repeated.

Illan Meslier is more of a gambit goalkeeper to have this season because Leeds somehow both score and concede goals in almost every game, and it’s visible in the clean sheet numbers of the team. Till now they have kept only 3 clean sheets in the opening 21 fixtures.

Last season, Meslier scored 154 points while keeping 11 clean sheets in 3150 minutes of gameplay.

If Leeds somehow improve their defensive play, then Illan Meslier easily is a good enough budget goalkeeper to have.

5. Robert Sanchez (Brighton & Hove Albion)

  • Season starting Price: £4.5m

Mathew Ryan was the 1st choice goalkeeper of Brighton for quite some time. But since last season, he is replaced by Robert Sanchez.

He had a decent season between the sticks last season, keeping 10 clean sheets and scoring 101 points while playing 2430 minutes.

In the ongoing season, he has already kept 6 clean sheets in 21 games scoring 67 points. That looks like a repeat of last season, but for a goalkeeper currently valued at just £4.6m this is a good enough number, and he is on our list of budget goalkeepers.
